Maintenance Management Outsourcing
OUTSCOURCING:
The market was analysed with the concept of offering an ASP solution in the Maintenance Planning and Management area of businesses. This was done due to the discovery of the following facts experienced in the market place.
Reliable sources indicate that in the past few years, more than 50% of the CMMS implementations have failed to pay back the expected (promised) ROI within two years of operation. Although this ratio is believed to be improving, the failure rate remains too high to ignore.
Many problems stem from a misunderstanding about a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). In particular, the misconceptions centre on the issue of what, why, and how.
The success of implementing a CMMS “project“ is to ensure that the system is used and continually improved to the point where the business benefits are realised from the system. Too often organisations stop short of success by not initiating and supporting this “project”.
It has been estimated that, on average, companies use only 9% of the functions of their CMMS. They only use 30% of the modules within the CMMS and, of those modules, only 30% of the capabilities are used (30% x30% = 9%).
To take an existing manual or semi-computerised system that is not currently providing the information and control required, and to convert these practices to an integrated solution leads to disaster. All that is accomplished is providing bad information faster.
Furthermore, the Evans Marketing Services survey indicated that an overall market tendency is to pay for software use and utilisation rather than purchasing a specific product. This has lead to the solutions offered by Maintenance Africa's Maintenance Management and Planning Services.
